Where to buy perfume in Montclair, NJ

Journal Aug 23, 2026

Buying perfume online is a gamble. You read the notes, you look at the bottle, you hope. Half the time it arrives smelling like nothing you expected, because a scent list on a screen tells you almost nothing about how it will sit on your skin.

Which is why a shop you can walk into still matters, and why we have one here.

What's different about buying it in person

You smell it on you, not on paper. A blotter shows you the top notes and then lies to you about everything after. Your skin decides how a perfume actually turns out — warm skin pushes sweetness forward, dry skin thins a scent out. Ten minutes on your own wrist tells you more than a hundred reviews.

Nobody works on commission. You can take an hour, try eight things, and buy nothing. That's a normal visit, not a failed sale.

You can ask the obvious questions. Which of these lasts longest. Which one won't be too much for an office. What's close to the bottle I already own but not identical. These are the questions people feel silly asking at a department store counter, and they're the ones that actually decide the purchase.

What you'll find on the shelf

Everything in the store is ours. We make our own perfumes — that's the whole business — so there's no rack of discounted designer bottles and no markup stacked on someone else's name.

What that means in practice: most bottles are around $30, and the ones in our Premium and Niche series run higher because there's more in them, not because the label says so.

Every one is an eau de parfum, which is the high-concentration version, so it lasts through a working day. Every one is vegan and cruelty-free, blended with quality oils sourced in Europe.

You'll find fresh scents, warm vanillas, ouds, the lot — including versions inspired by most of the designer fragrances people already know and wear.

Worth knowing before you come

Don't test more than three or four in one visit. Your nose gives up faster than you'd think, and after the fourth everything smells vaguely the same. Coffee beans don't fix it either, whatever you've read.

Wear one on your wrist and walk around with it for a while before deciding. The scent you like in minute two is often not the scent you like in hour two — and hour two is the one you're buying.

We're in Jersey City and West New York as well, so if Montclair isn't your side of the county there's probably one closer.

See what people buy most

We're D&P Perfumum — we make our own fragrances and sell them in our own New Jersey stores. That's why the price on the shelf looks like it does.
